Introduction to proteins
The proteins are the most abundant group of biomolecules of living beings, and accounting for 50% of the dry weight, on average.
The protides are made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen, although sometimes phosphorus and sulfur appear, and some metallic elements, such as iron and copper.
The proteins are polymers of amino acids linked by peptide bonds. According to the number of amino acids that make up the polymer, we distinguish between peptides and proteins.
