7.4. Organization of the nervous system

The functions of the nervous system are:

  • Connect the sensory receptors with the nervous centers, and these with the effector organs.
  • Transmit nerve impulses.
  • Process the information received by the sensitive stimuli to carry out the most appropriate physiological response.
  • Perform mental functions. It is responsible for feelings and emotions.
