Healthy habits for the excretory system
To take care of and prevent diseases of the excretory system, we must have healthy lifestyle habits. Some are:
- We have to drink enough water to avoid that the concentration of dissolved substances in the blood is very high and kidney stones form. It is recommended to drink about two liters of water a day.
- To avoid increasing the concentration of salts in the urine, we must also avoid consuming excessively salty foods. The consumption of shellfish , organ meats (liver, kidneys, heart, ...) and other foods also increases the concentration of uric acid, which can also form stones.
- The consumption of alcohol, medicines, etc., causes an excess of work to the liver, which is the organ responsible for its elimination. Therefore, to take care of our liver, we must avoid the consumption of these and other toxic substances.
- Doing physical exercise, in addition to other advantages for other devices, involves the excretion of toxins through sweat. Exercising also favors the access of oxygenated blood to the organs of the excretory system.
- Holding urine for too long can lead to infections, although that doesn't mean you have to interrupt class and can't hold out until recess ;-).
