3.2.4. Expulsion or egestion

Expulsion or egestion

Rectum and anus

The substances which have not been digested accumulate in the rectum and excreted through the anus, which has two rings or muscle sphincters that regulate their output, the defecation.

The journey of a food from when it enters through the mouth until its remains are expelled through the anus lasts in 24 and 48 hours, depending on the type of food.

Answer in your notebook
