2.7.5. Organic food

Organic food

In the production of organic food, no chemical fertilizers or pesticides have been used, nor do they contain additives or ingredients with transgenic species.

Advantages of organic food

  • It has better quality (tastesmell ,…) than intensively produced food, although its nutrients would be similar.
  • Only the product's own qualities and greater natural care are used.
  • No chemicals are used in its cultivation.
  • They produce less environmental impact on water and soil.

Disadvantages of organic food

  • Its appearance (color, brightness, ...) is usually worse.
  • They are kept for less time.
  • They are more expensive and therefore less profitable.

When the term "organic" appears on a label, it is a product in which it has been officially guaranteed that it is an organic food.
