Diseases produced by external and internal parasites

Disease-causing parasitic organisms can be:

  • Ectoparasites or external parasites: they act as vectors, transmitting diseases such as typhusmalariadysentery and pediculosis.
  • Endoparasites or internal parasites: such as worms, which cause diseases such as ascariasis (roundworm), trichinosis and anisakiasis.

Parasites: lice
